30 for 30: Challenge Accepted.

So I decided to say "challenge accepted" to the 30 for 30 fashion challenge. For those of you who don't know what that is, it's a blogger challenge to pick 30 items and wear only outfits from those picks for 30 days.

Here's what I chose:

A closer look & where it all came from....

The tops:
Denim shirt- target (recent) Yellow v-neck- Hollister. Coral dressy V neck- Target. Mint V-neck- A'gaci. Polka dot top- Target. White henley, orange henley- Old Navy. Mint cropped cardigan- Burlington Coat Factory. Tan everyday cardigan- A'Gaci. Yellow printed cardigan- J.Crew. Navy striped cardigan- Hollister.

The bottoms:
Red striped skirt- Old Navy. Navy striped maxi- Kohls. Orange cord skirt- up cycled from skinnies from Target. Dark wash denim pencil skirt- Old Navy. Mint denim pencil skirt- TJ max. Blue & white printed denim pencil skirt- Old Navy (recent).

The dresses:
Black maxi- A'Gaci. Striped maxi- Ross. Polka dot sundress- Ross.

The accessories (aka the best part!):
Blue & white ballet flats- Target. Brown sandals- Target. Brown leather flip flops- Abercrombie & Fitch (these cost more than all three other pairs of shoes pictured combined, and were worth EVERY PENNY. I have worn them almost every day of the last 2 spring/summers and they are still in excellent condition. My fave! :P). Tan wedges- Target. Wide belt- Target. Skinny braided leather belt- Hollister. Gold bangles- Deb. fedora- Target. Crystal necklace- Target. Charm necklace- Body Central.

(I'm getting tired of typing "Target". Heh.)

And there we have it! Stay tuned for 30 outfits out of my picks!

Cheers! Xoxo.

Everyday makeup

Ok loves, I decided to be brave and post a before and after makeup photo. . . Along with a virtual tutorial on how I do my lashes and my current products.

Before and after. My before is a TRUE before, a  fresh-from-the-shower-without-a-single-stitch-of-makeup-not-even-moisturizer before. If its too much for you, look away... Because my friends, makeup doesn't make you beautiful. Makeup simply plays up what's ALREADY beautiful about your face! So accept your face with all it's imperfections and blemishes, embrace it! Nobody is without flaw.

Ok getting on with my post:

Here is the pile of product I used to get from point A to point B. yes, that Cd is a legit makeup tool in my book. Heh. In case you can't read the labels well, here's a list of what I'm using, and where to buy it.
1.) Hard Candy "ginormous lash" in black. Walmart, $6-$9(can't remember exactly how much)
2.) Maybelline "Dream Matte Mousse" target, $7. I use this under my eyes and over any and all blemishes. It is fabulous.
3.) Hard Candy "honeymoon" shade blush. Walmart $6ish. I've been using this blush for almost 3 years and it is my fave! It's not even half gone yet!
4.) Elf mineral concealer, $5ish, eyeslipsface.com I use this over my whole face as a foundation/setting powder. So far, this is the only product I can use as a foundation without breaking out from it. Win!
5.) Elf bronzer in "Glow". Target? $2. I brush this on all along my hairline and forehead to make myself look a little less glow in the dark. :)
6.) Covergirl BB cream in "Fair" $6, target. This is the very first thing I put on my face after I jump out of the shower. I use it as a moisturizer, the tint is very weak, but it works for what I wanted it for.
7.) Maybelline Fit Me concealer, $5 HEB/Target. I use this when my under eyes look more sleepy than usual, or if I have a blemish to cover.
8.) NYC brown brow pencil. Obviously, I use this to give myself brows. Because mine are virtually invisible.

I use all ELF studio brushes for application, they range $3-$6 at eyeslipsface.com, Target sells some as well.

On to the lash tutorial!

Start by curling your lashes. I try to get the curler as close to the base of my lashes as possible without pinching my lid. I hold at the base of the lashes a few seconds, then do tiny pinches inching up to the tips.

One tip I tell everyone who asks, is use a tissue to wipe the top of your lash curler between each and EVERY time you curl. The curler can get caked with mascara and as you pull it off your eye it can pull your lashes downward and be quite counterproductive. Plus that's just gross.

Here's where the CD comes in :) Some girls use plastic spoons, business cards, etc. I used to use liquid foundation, and I used this CD as a palette for application. Anyways! Put the CD or whatever you're going to be using behind your eye at the base of your lashes, and kind of close your eye so your mascara is bending the lashes back. This really helps you get that mascara loaded on your lashes without getting it smeared all over your eyelid!

After your lashes are completely dry, comb out any clumps.

Repeat until your lashes are as thick as you want!

That's all for today! Cheers! Xoxo

Fedorable

I'm kind of totally obsessed with my outfit from today...

Don't worry guys, I won't wear this outfit in public with visible bra showage. :P

Polka dots and mint, FOR THE WIN.

I'm kind of obsessed with fedoras :) I love the relaxed, beachy look for summer!

Speaking of beachy, I'm also kind of obsessed with beach waves. My hair doesn't hold heat styled waves very well, so I got a little creative.....

BEHOLD: the Bunhawk.
I sleep on my side so this was pretty comfortable. All I did was squirt some leave-in conditioner on my hair, twist it and pin each bun down with 2 bobby pins interlocked.

Wake up, take the buns down, run fingers through hair, spray some curl locking hairspray and TAH-DAH!  Easy, (almost) effortless beach waves. *happy sigh*

Speaking of hair....... This is my FAVORITE go-to hairdo. Bad hair days, good hair days, slept in too late and have no time for hair days... Works for everything, takes about 5 minutes! How is this hairstyle done, you ask?
Pull your hair back in a pony tail, but on the last loop don't pull your hair all the way through (you should end up with something resembling photo #1 below). Take a small piece from the center and pin it forward,(photo 2) and randomly take pieces from the sides and  pin them down.(repeat photo 3 until you feel satisfied with your look). There's really no rhyme or reason to it! Then pull the hair by your crown up for some volume. Spray some hairspray & you're all done!

Ok, back to outfits:

And a refashion, because I was bored and I didn't like the ruffles, it felt like my boobs were being assaulted by big bird. :P

That's all for now!

Cheers! Xoxo

My Obsession With Yellow...

This is my inspiration room- LOVE the dark gray wall color!
I will be using these curtains, if target ever gets them in stock in store again! (Been there twice and they haven't had them! Bah!)
I love this pintuck duvet! I will be using white sheets in my room though.
And this throw on the bed, with maybe a few accent pillows.
And you know I can't write a post without outfits! So here are a few with my new navy blue & white ballet flats that I bought today at Target for $4.48. FOUR DOLLARS!!! Made my day.
I FINALLY own a mustard yellow cardigan, after searching for one for several, several months. Yay!

A weekend away

So this past weekend my husband and I had a fun weekend in Galveston where I stuffed myself with fresh gulf shrimp and we walked on the beach, and just had an overall relaxing time. I haven't posted in awhile, and so here are a few photos from our little trip.

For the Love of Shopping

Here's a post with some outfits I made from a few of the new pieces I bought over the weekend :) here's the haul:
Tan blazer (on clearance for $20! Gap had similar ones, but they were $88!)
2 Nautical looking skirts (On clearance for $11 each!)
Denim skirt - all from TJ Maxx
Tan wedge sandals (On sale! Yay!)- Target

After I got home, I started having second thoughts about the tan blazer, but after styling it a few ways and removing the hideous shoulder pads, I'm kind of in love! I'm finding that there are endless options to be had with a tan blazer and leopard flats. Pretty much anything in between goes! Score :)

Cheers! Xoxo
